A Tree for Life
“A Tree for Life” is a program aimed at greening the Dieppe landscape and celebrating the birth or arrival of a child by offering a free tree to the family that, over time, grows alongside the child.
Who is the program for?
Dieppe residents who have adopted or given birth to a child in 2023. Parents receive one tree per child. By agreeing to plant the tree, the new parents contribute to the community’s history, while also adding beauty to the city’s surroundings and making it a healthier place to live for the future generations.
How to register
New parents are asked to complete this form between March 27 and April 28, 2024. Proof of residence as well as birth or adoption is required.
Conditions
- The tree must be planted on the parents’ property in Dieppe and cannot be moved.
- It can also be planted on the property of an immediate family member residing in Dieppe, provided that a commitment letter is submitted authorizing the tree on the property and that proof of relationship with the child is supplied.
- Proof of residency (driver’s licence or tax statement), as well as proof of birth for the child (medical insurance card, birth or adoption certificate), must be provided.
- Parents are responsible for planting and maintaining the tree. The tree is easy to handle, and we suggest getting together as a family to plant it. The tree will be delivered to the address shown on the registration form and will come with a planting guide produced by the municipality. The guide explains how to plant and care for the tree and provides details on the applicable city regulations in effect.
- The city will look after researching the location of any underground cables, pipes, etc.
