Outdoor Fireplace Permits
Before using an outdoor fire pit within City of Dieppe limits, you must obtain a permit at City Hall. Permits cost $10 and are valid for five years. To get one, fill out this form and bring it to the reception desk at City Hall.
To safely enjoy your outdoor fire pit, make sure to follow these rules or consult Bylaw S-12:
- Fire pits may only be used between 4 p.m. and midnight, after which time the fire must be extinguished.
- Before lighting a fire, check the fire index in our area.
- Fire pits must be placed on a fireproof surface that extends at least 60 cm (2 ft) around them. They must not be placed on a patio attached to a building.
Fire pits must be:
- located 3 m (10 ft) from a main building
- situated 6 m (20 ft) from any neighbouring homes
- placed 2 m (6 ft) from any adjacent structures or buildings
- located 3 m (10 ft) from any hedges, trees, overhead electrical wires, combustible materials or roadways
- equipped with a spark screen with openings of no more than 12 mm, including the chimney
- used only with dry wood, and the fire pit door or cover must be closed when in use
- supervised by an adult when in use and until the fire is completely out
- easily accessible with a hose or functioning portable fire extinguisher
