Tree Planting
The Tree Planting Program offers mature trees at a very reasonable cost to residents who do not have trees in front of their homes.
Eligibility:
- The program is geared to owners of single-family residences, duplexes and townhouses.
- One tree per residence, and possibly two for homes located on a street corner.
- The land in front of the residence must be free of trees.
- There must be space to plant the tree and ensure it has enough room to grow.
- A fee of $50 plus taxes is charged per tree, which is less than 30% of the actual purchase cost.
- The tree can only be planted in front of the residence.
- Lawn must be present in the area where the tree will be planted.
If your application is accepted, the city will contact you to determine what kind of tree can be planted on your property based on available space and the type of trees available.
City’s responsibilities
Delivering the trees to approved homeowners, planting them and researching the location of any underground cables, pipes, etc.
Homeowner’s responsibilities
Digging the hole to the specifications required by the city, and maintaining the tree.
