Who are we?
P.R.O. Kids is a community program that helps Dieppe and Memramcook youth ages 2 to 18, whose families are experiencing financial difficulties, to participate in community, cultural and sports activities.
The program allows these young people to register for activities that would otherwise not be accessible to them for financial or equipment-related reasons or because of their particular family situation.
Financial needs
Families eligible for the P.R.O. Kids program often find themselves under the low income threshold which has been set at $60,000 before taxes for a family of four.
This amount is based on the low income thresholds of the Canada Revenue Agency and takes into account the inflation recorded in recent years.
- Family of 4 – $60,000
- Family of 5 – $67,000
- Family of 6 – $74,000
- Family of 7 – $81,000
Other eligibility criteria
- live in Dieppe or Memramcook
- only one activity per season
- must not already be registered in a paid activity
There are a number of scenarios that can result in financial hardship for families:
- death of one or both parents
- loss of employment of one or both parents
- serious illness of one or both parents
- serious illness of an immediate family member
- separation or divorce
- family with a special-needs child
- single-parent family
- immigrant family
