Vote for your favourite projects from the participatory budget
DIEPPE, NB – The City of Dieppe invites its residents to take part in the second edition of the participatory budgeting project (PBP) by voting for the projects they wish to see funded by the municipality.
Voting is open to anyone living in Dieppe who is 12 years of age or older as of December 31, 2018. You can vote online at dieppe.ca, at City Hall, at the Aquatic and Sports Centre and at various booths throughout the municipality.
The winners will share $180,000, maximum of $45,000 per project, to see their ideas implemented in the coming months, transforming our community. Project descriptions are available on the municipality’s website and on the ballot.
The participatory budgeting project is a municipal initiative which allows residents to choose how to spend a portion of the municipal operating budget. The goal of the PBP is to mobilize and rally residents around projects intended to meet the needs of the community and improve the quality of life in Dieppe.
Last June, the City of Dieppe launched the second edition of its PBP under the theme “Transform your community!” Based on the categories of active, connected, creative and green community, 200 project ideas were received between June and October. Some of them were then transformed into concrete project proposals and were presented to a citizen’s jury in April.
The citizen jury, made up of members of the community, heard the proposed projects and selected those found on the ballot. You can also participate as a volunteer at one of the voting stations by sending an email to pbp@dieppe.ca or calling 877.7920.
