Harvest Festival to feature a Battle of the Grills
DIEPPE, N.B. — Dieppe’s 5th Annual Harvest Festival offers a tasty array of events from September 13 to 15. This year, the Festival will present many new features that are sure to please lovers of good food.
On Friday, September 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre (DACC), the public is invited to a tasting of appetizers by Chef Michel Savoie of the Tide & Boar. The food will be accompanied by regional wines and spirits presented by sommelier Marc Paimpec. Tickets are available at the DACC (854.2787) at a cost of $28 until September 9. After that date, tickets will cost $30.
The Battle of the Grills will take the Dieppe Market by storm on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. A new feature this year, the event will see renowned area chefs each receiving a mystery box containing local products. They will then prepare a dish in 35 minutes using all the products in the box. The public will be able to watch up close and cheer on as Alex Haun (Kingsbrae Garden), Trevor Rowe (5 Senses Gourmet), Michel Savoie (Tide & Board), Benjamin Cormier (Alma City Club) and more as they attempt to impress the judges.
The celebration of local products continues on Sunday with a Gastronomic Picnic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Chef Pierre Richard of Little Louis’ preparing mouth-watering gourmet hamburgers. Included on the menu are goat cheese, caramelized onions and a children’s option. Caroline Savoie will provide musical entertainment. Tickets are available on the site at a cost of $10 for adults and $6 for children.
