Road work - reconstruction of Acadie Avenue / Amirault Street
DIEPPE, N.B. —The City of Dieppe wishes to advise motorists that major reconstruction road work will begin on Acadie Avenue/Amirault Street, between Alain-Gilette Street and Chartersville Road on Monday, May 18, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday, until December 2015, except the final layer of asphalt.
Assessed at 13.5 million dollars, this project is the biggest roadway infrastructure project in the municipality’s history. This project is the culmination of several years of work and discussions with the provincial and federal government. The municipality is very grateful that these levels of government have recognized the project as a priority for Dieppe.
The street will undergo a complete transformation. A multi-purpose path, left turning lanes, curbs and sidewalks along developed land will be added; and more importantly, the road will be elevated up to 1 metre in order reduce the potential for flooding.
During the construction period, this road section will be reduced to a single lane in each direction, unless a major unforeseen incident should arise. It should be noted that businesses will remain accessible.
This work will result in major traffic delays, so it is strongly recommended that motorists leave earlier in order to avoid potential traffic jams. As well, other main arteries may experience heavier-than-normal traffic since they will absorb the surplus of vehicles using alternate routes. Motorists are encouraged to plan for longer travel times while the work is being carried out. The City appreciates your patience and collaboration.
