The tree planting program is back
DIEPPE, NB — The tree planting program—which aims at making our city a greener place—is back for a seventh consecutive year. Since its launch, more than 400 trees have been planted throughout the municipality.
This program offers mature trees at a very reasonable cost to residents who do not have trees in front of their homes. Interested residents have until Sunday, March 31 to submit their application.
Eligibility requirements:
- One tree only per residence.
- There can be no existing trees on the land in front of the home.
- There must be sufficient space to plant the tree and to ensure it has enough space to grow.
- A $50 fee, plus applicable taxes, must be paid by the homeowner, which corresponds to less than 30% of the cost to purchase the tree.
- The tree must only be planted on the land located in front of the house.
If your application is accepted, city employees will contact you to determine what kind of tree can be planted on your lot based on available space and the availability of tree species.
To obtain a tree, you must fill out anapplication form before March 31, at dieppe.ca. The program is on first-come, first-served basis.
