New City of Dieppe firefighters receive diplomas
DIEPPE, N.B. — The Dieppe Fire Department officially presented 14 diplomas during a recent graduation ceremony to firefighters who now work in the municipality.
In addition to traditional firefighter training, the firefighters had to pass an aggressive 18-week program specific to the local area. This was done under the supervision of Captain Jeff Pyke of the City of Dieppe Fire Department.
“Your training efforts are evidence of your desire to offer quality service to our area’s residents,” said Yvon Lapierre, Mayor of Dieppe. “Your profound dedication to the community must be recognized. On behalf of city council and our residents, we sincerely thank you.”
At the ceremony, Fire Chief Charles LeBlanc also took the opportunity to stress the importance of professionalism in the firefighting field, as well as maintaining and continuing training, including the importance of teamwork.
The new firefighters range in age from 19 to 44 years old.
