Upcoming Downtown Improvement Project
DIEPPE, NB — The City of Dieppe will soon be investing $1.3 million to revitalize a major downtown parking lot located in the Gauvin block, which is bordered by Champlain Street, Gauvin Road, Marché Street and Collège Street. Part of the parking lot, which currently has a gravel surface, will be paved over, and sidewalks and lighting will be added. The work will also include the addition of bioretention cells in the form of green spaces, which will help with surface water treatment and quality.
“We are very pleased to develop this parking lot to provide a safe, quality space for downtown customers. The bioretention cells will also serve as an example to be replicated elsewhere in the municipality,” explains Rémi Babin, senior engineer with the city.
To allow for construction, the parking lot in question will be closed from the end of June to September, inclusively. We want to reassure residents that many parking options will remain available in the downtown area, with over 700 free spaces that can be used.
A map showing the location of parking spaces is available in attachment.
