Taxi Chit Program for Codiac Transpo customers
DIEPPE (NB)– The City of Moncton, City of Dieppe and the Town of Riverview have come together to provide a Taxi Chit Program for Codiac Transpo customers. Each municipality will be offering a limited number of taxi chits/coupons each week for their respective residents who rely on public transit to get around the tri-community.
“The Taxi Chit Program is being launched to help alleviate some of the stress and financial hardship on our customers as a result of the Codiac Transpo shutdown,” says Marie-Claire Pierce, Senior Transit Planner with Codiac Transpo. “Customers who have a monthly pass, punch pass or refunded receipt will be eligible for the program. This will help us identify those customers who rely heavily on Codiac Transpo and ensure the people who need it the most are benefiting from this tri-community initiative. We will re-evaluate and assess the program as we go.”
Starting Friday, July 6, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. residents can obtain taxi chits at their respective City or Town Halls; Moncton residents may obtain taxi chits at Moncton City Hall or by calling 857.2008; Dieppe residents may obtain taxi chits at Dieppe City Hall or by calling 877.7900; and Riverview residents may obtain taxi chits at Riverview Town Hall or by calling 387.2020.
Customers will need to show proof of their address and a monthly or punch pass. Taxi chits will be sold in $5 increments to a maximum of $25 per customer per day while supplies last. Customers buy one taxi chit and get one free. Following Friday’s launch, the program will restart each Monday (8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.) with a limited number of chits available from each community. Availability is on a first come first serve basis. Taxi chits will not have an expiry date and will not become void once the transit service resumes.
