New tree planting program “A tree for life”
A new program aimed at making Dieppe’s landscape greener and highlighting the birth of a child was just recently launched. The City of Dieppe is proud to recognize the arrival of a child into the world by offering—free of charge—its family a tree that will grow alongside the child over time.
This program is intended for Dieppe residents who have adopted or given birth to a child in 2015. A single tree per child will be offered to the parents. In agreeing to plant this tree, the new parents are contributing to the community’s history, in addition to beautifying its living environment and making it a healthier place to live for the future generations.
Conditions
- The tree must be planted on the parents’ property in Dieppe and cannot be moved.
- The tree can also be planted on the property of an immediate family member residing in Dieppe, provided that a commitment letter is submitted to authorize the planting of the tree on the property and that proof of relationship with the child is supplied.
- Proof of residency (driver’s license or tax statement) as well as proof of birth for the child (medical insurance card, birth or adoption certificate) are required for registration. Simply include a photocopy of these documents with the registration form.
- Parents are responsible for planting and maintaining the tree. The tree is easy to handle and we suggest getting together as a family to plant it. The tree will be delivered to the address shown on the registration form and will be accompanied by a planting guide prepared by the municipality. This guide offers information on how to plant the tree, on how to maintain it as well as regulations in effect in Dieppe.
- The City of Dieppe will be responsible for conducting research for the different underground utilities.
How to register
New parents must fill out the form available at dieppe.ca and return it before May 15, 2016, either in person at City Hall reception (333 Acadie Avenue), by e-mail at justin.poirier@dieppe.ca or by fax at 877.7942. Photocopies of the proof of residency, birth or adoption are required. Do not submit the original copies.
If your request is accepted, the municipality will contact you to determine what type of tree can be planted on your property based on the available space and availability of the tree species.
