Multiculturalism: Place 1604 Welcomes the World!
DIEPPE, N.B. — Canadian Multiculturalism Day is just around the corner. Get ready to climb aboard Air Dieppe and set off on a voyage of discovery on June 27, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Place 1604. The festivities will feature a multicultural show, a parade of cultures, a world market, bouncy castles, an art exhibition, and more. And it’s free!
The theme of this year’s Canadian Multiculturalism Day in Dieppe is travel.
Discovery
“You can get on a plane to discover new cultures, flavours and artists, or you can let discovery come to you, which is what we’re doing here,” says Christian Camilleri, immigration, diversity and inclusion coordinator for the City of Dieppe. “We want to create a shared space so that everyone feels represented. To illustrate intercultural sharing, we’ve even booked an Arab-Acadian show that represents a melding of cultures.”
Several cultures will be showcased in a parade that will travel around City Hall to promote diversity and togetherness. Join us at 5:30 p.m.!
A meeting place
After the parade, an assortment of kiosks will introduce you to the cultures that make our community so strong. There will be opportunities to sample a variety of foods. Authentic dishes, as well as arts and crafts, will also be on sale. Bring cash!
The evening will feature a show rich in diversity with singing and dancing for the whole family. Bouncy castles will also be set up to entertain the little ones.
