Dieppe Aquatic Centre adds mini art gallery to its list of offerings over the summer
DIEPPE, NB — The Dieppe Aquatic and Sports Centre, in collaboration with CAFi, an agency that welcomes and supports francophone immigrants to southeastern New Brunswick, will be hosting its very first visual art exhibition in the lobby until September 29.
The public is invited to discover the collective and personal works of 16 women from near and far that will be on display at the centre located at 111 Aquatique Street. Participants of varying ages and from nine different countries took part in an exploration of free surfaces, under the guidance of French artist Johanna Lezziero, and learned to harness the creative process during three months of visual art workshops.
Lezziero, originally from France, chose to devote herself to illustration when she arrived in Canada five years ago. Between her Aberdeen Cultural Centre studio and her Hillsborough home, she creates a world of poetic illustrations inspired by the natural world in which she lives. Snowy landscapes and colourful houses cohabitate with playful animals and textile motifs from her loom.
Galaxie – Surfaces libres
Galaxie is a CAFi art project designed for women of all levels of experience who want to share, discover and create in a respectful, friendly atmosphere. Since 2013, the project has enabled participants to experience the creative process, guided by artists, and to explore a variety of mediums such as sewing, felting, theatre, porcelain painting, singing, drawing, writing, and much more.
