Dieppe Friendship Carnival features many new activities!
DIEPPE, N.B. – A number of new activities will be offered during the Dieppe Friendship Carnival taking place February 1-3.
Some of the new activities include: a colouring contest with participants having the chance to win a four-month pass to Crystal Palace; a new structure, the Ice Tower, will be available in the Aquatic and Sports Centre’s pool; and movies will be presented on a giant inflatable screen at École Anna-Malenfant. The Carnival also unveiled its new logo in the form of a snowflake.
There will also be free skating offered, as well as public swimming (with and without the Wibit structure), recreational badminton, sleigh rides, a LEGO exhibit, sliding, cross-country skiing, cyclocross, kite flying and a number of other family activities.
Here are a few of the events not to be missed:
Friday, February 1
The opening ceremony hosted by BO-FM will take place at Place 1604 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a bonfire, sliding and a guest DJ.
Saturday, February 2
The movie L’ère de glace (French version of Ice Age) will be presented on a giant inflatable screen at École Anna-Malenfant at 10 a.m. The play Peigne… il était une fois will be presented in French at the Arts and Culture Centre at 1:30 p.m. at a cost of $10 for adults and $7.50 for children. The opening of the new Ice Tower structure will take place at 3 p.m. at the Dieppe Aquatic and Sports Centre at a cost of $4 for children under 12 years of age. A campfire with Jacques Comeau (acoustics) and a fire eater will be held free of charge at Rotary St-Anselme Park from 6:40 p.m. to 8:55 p.m. Ti-Blanc Morin will keep the crowd dancing at the Club d’âge d’or de St-Anselme from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. A total of 150 tickets will be available at the door only for $5 each.
Sunday, February 3
A community breakfast presented by the Dieppe Rotary Club will take place at Rotary St-Anselme Park. Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children aged 5-12 and free for children younger than five years of age. A children’s show by Art Richard will be presented free of charge at École Anna-Malenfant from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The Dr. Martin Braces Kids’ Zone will be open free of charge from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at École Anna-Malenfant with inflatable games, face painting and balloon sculpting. The festivities end with a hockey game between the Dieppe Commandos and the Woodstock Slammers at the Arthur-J.-LeBlanc Centre.
