National Acadian Day to be celebrated in grand style in Dieppe
DIEPPE, N.B. — The City of Dieppe unveiled the roster of activities today surrounding its National Acadian Day activities on August 15 in collaboration with Radio-Canada Acadie who will air their televised concert live from Dieppe.
The day will kick off at 1 p.m. with the opening ceremonies of Dieppe KITE International at Dover Park followed by a variety of activities at the same location. The departure of the vehicle tintamarre will take place at 5:30 p.m. from Dover Park and proceed to CCNB-Dieppe (community college), from there the traditional tintamarre will depart at 6:15 p.m. At 6:50 p.m., a concert by the Hay Babies will take place at Place 1604 followed by an official ceremony.
The National Acadian Day concert broadcast on Radio-Canada Television begins at
9 p.m. at Place 1604 and will feature Acadian talent such as Cayouche, Annie Blanchard, Mia Martina, Radio Radio, Kevin McIntyre, Jonathan Painchaud and Caroline Savoie.
The evening will finish up with Cayouche returning to the stage followed by a performance by Big Bad Marty Band, who promises to bring a new twist to Acadian classics.
All activities are free of charge and there will be ample parking surrounding Place 1604.
In 2012, the City of Dieppe is celebrating a number of activities, including the 60th anniversary of its incorporation as a municipality, the 10 th anniversary of its city status and the 25 th anniversary of its Wednesday Show concert series. It’s a year filled with celebrations – and what better day to celebrate than August 15, National Acadian Day!
