Greater Moncton: one step closer to its Regional Sustainable Transportation Master Plan
GREATER MONCTON – The City of Moncton, the City of Dieppe and the Town of Riverview, in conjunction with the Province of New Brunswick, are moving forward with the Destination2040 Regional Sustainable Transportation Master Plan and will be hosting a fun and engaging event on September 6, 2013 in all three communities to encourage people to attend the study’s first public meeting on September 17.
“The September 6 event will bring the tri-community together and hopefully create a buzz in the area,” says Stephane Thibodeau, Project Lead of Destination2040. “We will be travelling by foot, bikes, transit and hybrid cars to promote the public visioning and engagement session on September 17 so I invite everyone to chat with us.”
The public visioning event will be held on September 17 at the Capitol Theatre (Empress), from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This event will enable residents to meet the study team, get informed about the conditions of the current transportation network and to provide input to visions and principles that will guide development of the plan. Attendees will be able to learn, contribute their ideas and concerns, and voice their opinion about the present and future transportation system in the tri-community.
Numerous surveys and questionnaires have already been completed to inform the Plan. They show that our citizens are fully aware of the importance of a well connected, well planned and efficiently operated transportation system that supports our needs whether we travel by auto, Codiac Transpo buses, trucks, bikes, or on foot.
Help us shape Destination2040 and become part of an exciting process that will transform our transportation system into an environmentally friendly, sustainable and accessible one. What moves you?
