Closure of Acadie Avenue (update)
DIEPPE, N.B. – The City of Dieppe wishes to inform motorists that Acadie Avenue remains closed to traffic between Chartersville Road and Marché Street because of localized flooding.
Acadie Avenue is a designated provincial highway that serves more than 24,000 vehicles per day. Discussions have been underway with the provincial government for several years aimed at road reconstruction to reduce the risk of floods. Because it is a designated provincial highway, the final decision rests with the provincial government.
“We hope to have positive answers very soon from both levels of government in order to undertake reconstruction of this portion of Acadie Avenue in 2015,” said Mayor Yvon Lapierre. “The preliminary concept stage of the plans is nearly completed. This project is definitely one of the City of Dieppe’s priorities. We hope that this will also be one of the provincial government’s priorities.”
It should be noted that businesses along this portion of Acadie Avenue remain accessible.
The City regrets any inconvenience caused by this situation and appreciates the patience and collaboration of residents.
