In Dieppe, water conservation is important!
As stated in bylaw 78-5, the watering of lawns, gardens and plants is prohibited between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., when it is raining and for more than two hours per day. Also, residences with even civic numbers may only water on dates with even numbers and those with uneven civic numbers may only water on dates with uneven numbers.
In addition, here are a few tips for reducing water consumption at home.
- Leaky taps and toilet valves can waste more than 400 litres of water per day. Repair all water leaks coming from taps, shower heads and toilets as soon as possible.
- Take shorter showers. Do not let water run while brushing your teeth, shaving or while washing your hands or face.
- Avoid flushing toilets unnecessarily.
- Thaw frozen food in the refrigerator and not under the tap.
- When you wash your dishes by hand, do not let water run continuously.
- Keep a pitcher of water in the refrigerator instead of allowing the tap to run until the water is cold.
Every drop counts!
