Dieppe Takes Interest in Needs of Teenage Residents
DIEPPE, NB — The City of Dieppe is launching a new initiative to better understand the needs and expectations of teenage residents aged 12 to 18. The initiative stems from the recommendations of the Recreation Master Plan, which aims to broaden the programming offered and establish public recreation facilities, in addition to building partnerships with community organizations.
“We recognize that the teenagers in our community have unique needs, and we want to ensure that they receive the best possible services,” says Denis LeBlanc, Director of Community Development for the City of Dieppe.
Dieppe-based VIMINIO Recherche et Analyse inc. has therefore been commissioned by the municipality to conduct a survey of teenagers aged 12 to 18 and their parents. Respondents will be able to access the survey in paper format or online, depending on their preference, until January 5, 2024.
“We hope that large numbers of teens and parents will share their opinions, so that we can get accurate and valid data,” adds LeBlanc. “We’ll also have people on the ground at strategic locations to encourage young people to take the survey. There will be prizes for participating, too.”
Focus groups with teenagers and their parents will be held in early 2024 to explore the subject further and validate the information obtained through the survey. By doing this, the municipality is looking to obtain key information to better meet the needs of this demographic and improve the services offered to it.
