Aeroponics Volunteers Needed!
As part of a pilot project at the UNIplex Medavie greenhouse, the municipality is looking for four volunteers for the summer season. Interested individuals will take a free aeroponics training course, then check on the plants once a week.
The checks, which take around an hour to complete, will be carried out on Sundays, Mondays or Tuesdays, depending on the candidates’ availability. Each volunteer will get a box of plants to take home free of charge.
Two training sessions will be held: one on Thursday, June 20, and the other on Thursday, June 27, both from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Once the summer is over, the volunteers will have the option of taking part in the new aeroponics program offered in the fall, if they wish.
To apply, e-mail Meggane Cappello at meggane.cappello@dieppe.ca by no later than Monday, June 17, at 4 p.m.
What is aeroponics?
Aeroponics is a method of growing plants without soil. Instead of being planted in the ground, plants are suspended in an enclosed space. Pumps spray their roots with a nutrient-rich water-based solution to help them grow fast and healthy.
