Dieppe launches a park-and-ride pilot project
DIEPPE, NB — Dieppe City Council has adopted a pilot project that offers a free incentive parking system for Dieppe residents. The municipality is continuing its mission to encourage progressive practices to ensure the sustainable development of the region.
“We are very proud to offer this ecological initiative to city residents,” said Mayor Yvon Lapierre. “This project provides a more practical and less expensive solution to people who have to drive to work every day and reduces the region’s ecological footprint,” he adds.
The pilot project is intended to encourage Dieppe residents to carpool more and to take advantage of the Codiac Transpo public transit system. Parking lots to be used for the park-and-ride project are available Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. at the Arthur-J.-Leblanc Centre and on Aquatique Street near Dieppe Boulevard.
Access to the park-and-ride spaces is controlled by means of a sticker which must be displayed at the bottom of the windshield on the passenger’s side.
“People can now register at City Hall and at the Aquatic and Sports Centre,” says Luc Richard, Director of the Organizational Performance Department. “Registration for the parking incentive program and the use of its facilities are free,” he adds.
