Dieppe Launches its 2020-2024 Immigration Strategy
Dieppe, NB – This morning, the City of Dieppe launched its 2020-2024 Immigration Strategy using a Web-based format, in the company of various community stakeholders. Building on the priorities of City Council, the Board of Directors of Expansion Dieppe and the Local Immigration Partnership, this new strategy aims to make Dieppe a welcoming city open to the world.
The discussions that led to the Dieppe strategy emerged during the regional strategy development process and were aimed at identifying certain elements that would position Dieppe in the immigration ecosystem, regionally, provincially and nationally.
The immigration strategy will target three areas of intervention: planning and coordination of service delivery, communication and public awareness, employment and economic development.
“Our role as a municipality is to adapt our services to allow for the enhancement of cultural diversity and promote intercultural dialogue within the community,” said Dieppe Mayor, Yvon Lapierre. “With this new strategy, and its detailed action plan, we will be able to work together with the many stakeholders in the community to achieve these objectives,” he added.
“The strategy aims to contribute to the implementation of policies and strategies for managing cultural diversity and to adopt measures to prevent racism and discrimination,” said Bénédicte N’Dri, Dieppe’s immigration strategy officer. “The strategy is the result of several months of work, and we are very proud to be able to share the details this morning with the entire community.”
