Dieppe launches snowplow-naming contest
DIEPPE, NB — As winter approaches, the City’s Operations Department is looking to name five of its snowplows. To do that, the municipality is launching its very first snowplow-naming contest.
Interested parties have until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023, to submit an entry form, which can be found at dieppe.ca. The selection committee will choose three French names, one English name and one Indigenous name. Prizes will be awarded to participants whose suggestions are selected.
“The contest is a fun way for our team to start the winter season,” says Raymond Bourque, Director of Operations. “It’s also a way of involving young and old alike in the community and raising awareness of our snow and ice removal plan.”
Each name selected will be displayed on both sides of its corresponding snowplow during the winter. The Operations Department will also be holding an internal competition to name the sixth snowplow in its fleet. The names will be announced in November.
