Dieppe: Construction Industry Works to Alleviate Housing Shortage
DIEPPE, N.B. — Like many municipalities across Canada, the City of Dieppe is facing housing challenges. The creation of more than 1,188 new housing units over the past year is welcome news for Mayor Lapierre. “Dieppe is strategically positioning itself to address its housing issues and needs,” he explains. “Our new 2025-2029 strategic plan focuses on sustainable development and prosperity, so that we can continue to develop as a city while also enhancing our green spaces.”
The new construction mentioned above is one of many solutions proposed in the housing strategy adopted by City Council in spring 2024 to increase housing availability and affordability.
“Housing is the cornerstone of healthy, inclusive communities,” says Alexandre Girard, Director of Planning and Development. “New construction in key areas of the municipality enhances our living environment by encouraging investment in infrastructure and public transit while further stimulating the economy.”
Dieppe is committed to ensuring that all members of our community have a safe, quality place to call home. To that end, the City continues to promote a diverse and sustainable community that considers the housing needs of all current and future residents, while ensuring that the quality of life of the entire community is protected and enhanced.
