Winning snowplow names unveiled!
DIEPPE, NB — The City of Dieppe launched a contest in October to name five of its snowplows. Residents responded in large numbers, making the selection committee’s task difficult.
Here are the winning names, which will be displayed on both sides of their corresponding snowplows during the winter:
- Reine des neiges
- Grégoire la gratte
- Passe-partout
- Plowy McPlowface
- Welipuk
- Rouse (name chosen by the employees of the Operations Department)
The lucky authors of the winning names will each receive a $50 VISA gift card. Congratulations to Dominic Pecqueur, Janice Leger, Xavier Lockyer, Gaelle Lemay, Jacques Richard, Audrey Thibodeau, Karine Pelletier and Nathalie Richard.
The Operations Department also held an in-house competition to name its sixth snowplow. The name chosen was Rouse. Stephen Rouse had been a City employee since 2009. He died in April after a courageous battle with cancer. Affectionately referred to by his last name, Rouse was an ever cheerful and fun-loving employee. He took great pride in his work, and the snowplow that will now bear his name was the one he used to drive.
Thank you to everyone who participated. Follow us on social media this winter to learn more about each of our snowplows.
