Battle of Britain to be commemorated in Dieppe

DIEPPE, NB — In collaboration with the Dieppe Military Veterans Association, the City of Dieppe is organizing a ceremony commemorating the Battle of Britain and airforce efforts during the Second World War. The event will be held at J.-Laurie-Cormier Park on Sunday, September 17, and will begin with a military parade at 1:30 p.m.
The ceremony will be followed by a reception at the Dieppe Golden Age Club, located at 445 Acadie Avenue.
The Battle of Britain, which started in 1940, involved the Royal Air Force, the Royal Canadian Air Force and aviators from several of the Allied powers. In total, 112 Canadian soldiers took part in the Battle of Britain, 23 of whom lost their lives and three of whom were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in recognition of their efforts during the Battle.
In case of rain, the event will be held at the Dieppe Golden Age Club.
