Cancelled - Battle of Britain commemorated in Dieppe
Please note that the ceremony commemorating the Battle of Britain that was to be held on Sunday, September 18 at J.-Laurie-Cormier Park in Dieppe has been cancelled. The ceremony has been cancelled out of respect for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
A reminder that interested persons can come and sign the book of condolences at City Hall during business hours until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 16.
DIEPPE, NB — In collaboration with the Dieppe Military Veterans Association, the City of Dieppe is organizing a ceremony commemorating the Battle of Britain and airforce efforts during the Second World War. The event will be held at J.-Laurie-Cormier Park on Sunday, September 18, and will begin with a military parade at 1:30 p.m.
The Battle of Britain, which started in 1940, involved the Royal Air Force, the Royal Canadian Air Force and aviators from several of the Allied powers. In total, 112 Canadian soldiers took part in the Battle of Britain, 23 of whom lost their lives and 3 of whom were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in recognition of their efforts during the Battle.
In case of rain, the event will be held at the Dieppe Golden Age Club, located at 445 Acadie Avenue.
