Dieppe Adopts an Innovative Asset Management Policy
DIEPPE (NB) — Dieppe City Council adopted a new asset management policy at the public meeting on November 27. This proactive approach will allow the City of Dieppe to disseminate best practices in municipal asset management and become a leader in that area.
The City of Dieppe has been developing its asset management policy for several years. In 2012, City Council supported efforts to develop Dieppe's first asset management plan. Then, in winter 2015, the city was accepted into the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Leadership in Asset Management Program (LAMP). This program gave the City of Dieppe the opportunity to interact with four other Francophone municipalities from Quebec and New Brunswick. The first phase of the LAMP began in January 2017 and continued until last fall.
“The purpose of this policy is, among other things, to provide leadership and demonstrable commitment to asset management, to provide a set of principles to guide City development by integrating strategic planning, budgets, service levels and risks, and to support all efforts to implement an asset management system within our city,” said Steve Landry, Deputy Treasurer for the City of Dieppe.
Consequently, the City of Dieppe commits to create, implement and constantly improve a balanced management approach by ensuring that its various plans are consistent with best practices in asset management and sustainable development. These plans will be integrated into an asset management system that will enable the City to achieve its strategic objectives.
“We are proud to support this new policy, which will allow the City of Dieppe to implement best practices in asset management and sustainable development, and position itself to meet provincial requirements is this area,” said Mayor Yvon Lapierre.
