New features for 9th edition of Dieppe KITE International
DIEPPE, N.B. — Candy showers, a running of the bols, an artisans’ fair, indoor flight workshop and a concert by singing star Zachary Richard are just a few of the new features of the 9th edition of Dieppe KITE International taking place from August 14-18.
Dieppe KITE International continues its tradition of three components: kites, community activities and cultural activities. Most of the activities will take place at Dover Park.
The kite component will see nearly 50 kite fliers from 13 countries on site to offer kite demonstrations, Rokkaku combats, a night flight, as well as acrobatic kite-flying demonstrations.
Community activities will include the Dr. Martin Braces / Orthodontiste Community Zone open daily, an artisans’ fair, a candy shower (candy will be placed in a flying pouch that will then be opened to create a shower of candy), running of the bols (tug-of-war with the wind using large parachute-like wind devices) indoor flight workshop, a P’tit Louis and Marie performance presented by the Pays de la Sagouine, and fireworks. Also on site will be a kite creation tent, inflatable games, face painting, and daily children’s performances by Roland Gauvin et Monsieur Crapaud, Rémi Boudreau and Art Richard, to name just a few.
On the cultural side, two concerts will be presented at the Arthur-J.-LeBlanc Centre: Big Bad Marty Band and Jacques Comeau on Friday, August 16, at a cost of $15 in advance or $25 at the door; and Zachary Richard, Suroît, George Belliveau, Wilfred LeBouthillier and Réveil on Saturday, August 17, at a cost of $25 in advance or $35 at the door. A two-day concert pass is also available for $35 at the following locations: Jean Coutu in Dieppe and Shediac, Atlantic Superstore in Moncton and Riverview, Home Hardware in Memramcook, Higho Market in Saint-Antoine or billetterieacces.ca. The play Bonne fête Madame Yvonne will also be staged on Friday, August 16, at 7 p.m. in the École Mathieu-Martin auditorium at a cost of $12 in advance or $15 at the door.
