Do you know the amount of sugar in your drinks?
DIEPPE, N.B. — As part of its Wellness Strategy and Nutrition Month, the City of Dieppe will be organizing the Cube Challenge in cooperation with the Wellness Movement and the Province of New Brunswick as well as the Vitalité Health Network.
This community challenge invites people to take notice of the number of sugar cubes they consume in their beverages and encourage them to reduce that number. The goal is to increase awareness in regards to the amount of free sugars found in many beverages.
“We are very proud to launch this challenge and at the same time, promote water as a first choice of beverage to quench our thirst. A booklet outlining the details of the challenge as well as a nutrition facts table for all sorts of beverages is available at the Aquatic and Sports Centre, City Hall and on our website,” says Sonya Babineau, Community Officer, City of Dieppe.
Participation prizes will be randomly drawn. Prizes include a $80 gift-certificate for a consultation with Dietitians in the Kitchen, a $75 gift-certificate at Mike’s Bike Shop and a free pass for four people at the Aquatic and Sports Centre. The details are available in the booklet.
