Changes in water colour and low water pressure
DIEPPE (NB) — The City of Dieppe wishes to advise residents that there could be potential discolouration and reduction in water pressure due to a water main break that happened this morning in Moncton, on Main Street between Cameron and Weldon.
Repairs are well under way and are expected to be completed by tomorrow morning. Due to this water main break, some residents of Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe may experience reduced water pressure and discolouration during this period. The situation will be monitored closely for water quality during the repairs and until turbidity returns to normal. Updates will be provided as needed.
Water discolouration will come through the system periodically for the next few days. After this time, should residents still experience discoloured water, they are advised to open hot and cold taps for 30 minutes to flush their internal plumbing. If water does not clear up after flushing, call 850-5104.
The discolouration of water is caused by an increase in water velocity which can stir up sediment. This sediment is an aesthetic quality which poses no health risk. However, if your water is discoloured, refrain from washing white clothes as it may cause staining.
