Get Ready for Tricycle Rides in Dieppe
DIEPPE, NB — The City of Dieppe, alongside representatives of the main sponsor, Assumption Life, and various community stakeholders, today launched the tricycle rides for seniors program.
One of six winning projects of the second edition of the Participatory Budgeting Project, the “Un vélo, une ville” program aims to provide leisure outings or trips to run errands in order to prevent social isolation of seniors.
Steered by students from Dieppe, the tricycle offers free rides to the city’s seniors.
“Whether you live in a seniors’ residence or your own home, the tricycle is an excellent way to participate actively in community life all summer long,” said Mayor Lapierre. “The project also provides two young people in our city with paid summer work. This is an original and promising way to promote intergenerational exchanges.”
“Assumption Life is proud to support this fine initiative to offer our seniors a free and eco-friendly transportation service. The tricycle rides program fits squarely into our driving company values: a unifying, community project that seeks to improve the well-being of individuals and communities,” said Sébastien Dupuis, President and CEO of Assumption Life.
It will be possible to book a tricycle ride starting Monday, June 24 by calling 877.5030.
