Tree planting program
DIEPPE, NB — The tree planting program—which aims at making our city a greener place—is open to residents until Tuesday, March 31. This program offers mature trees at a very reasonable cost to residents who do not have trees in front of their homes.
Eligibility requirements:
- The program is intended for owners of single-family residences, duplexes or townhouses;
- One tree per residence, with a possibility of two trees for residences located on a street corner;
- There can be no existing tree on the land in front of the residence;
- There must be sufficient space to plant the tree and to ensure it has enough space to grow;
- A fee of $50 plus taxes per tree applies, which corresponds to less than 30% of the cost of purchasing the tree;
- The tree must only be planted on the land located in front of the residence;
- Priority will be given to homeowners. If trees are still available at the end of the program, they may be offered to tenants, subject to the approval of the owner of the residence.
If your application is accepted, city employees will contact you to determine what kind of tree can be planted on your lot based on available space and the availability of tree species.
To obtain a tree, you must fill out an application form before March 31, at dieppe.ca. The program is on first-come, first-served basis.
