Dieppe Intergenerational Community Complex to Bear UNI Name
Dieppe, NB – The City of Dieppe and fundraising campaign officials have announced that the new Dieppe intergenerational community complex will bear UNI's name.
This name highlights the $1-million contribution made by UNI Financial Cooperation to the campaign, whose goal is $4.5 million.
"I must express how pleased I am to be representing UNI in its role as a partner in the community. It's because of the benefits of our provincial and local commercial activities that we are involved," said Robert Moreau, Chief Executive Officer of UNI Financial Cooperation.
"For over two years now, our volunteers have spent long hours of their valuable time to bring this project to fruition. Through their support, expertise and conviction, we can now announce the name of our main sponsor. Our community chose to mobilize to create a place that will ensure socio-economic, cultural, sports, and community development, all areas that truly represent UNI Financial Cooperation's vision," said Mayor Yvon Lapierre.
"Our campaign team is made up of volunteers who are greatly committed to the success of this fundraising campaign. We are extremely pleased to announce the name that our new intergenerational community complex will bear," added campaign team co-chairs Annick Laforge and Bob Cormier.
The $29-million project will be funded by the provincial, federal and municipal governments and the community.
The complex will include an indoor walking track, a community kitchen, community rooms that can accommodate up to 150 people, a primary ice surface with 1104 seats, a secondary ice surface with 324 seats, and an intergenerational greenhouse. Construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2018 with opening scheduled for the spring of 2020.
