Les Chalins
Les Chalins is an evening organized by the City of Dieppe to highlight exceptional achievements and contributions to community life by volunteers.
Recognizing volunteerism is essential for the long-term well-being and commitment of volunteers and organizations and to ensure their continuity. Acknowledging these individuals:
- attracts new volunteers,
- increases volunteer retention,
- celebrates contributions to an organization’s achievements,
- encourages organizations to help promote the City’s values,
- allows volunteers to network, and
- fosters a sense of accomplishment among volunteers.
Residents and community groups are invited to submit the names of individuals who have done outstanding work, for consideration in one or more of the categories listed below.
Finalists will be recognized at the Les Chalins event on April 17, 2024.
The deadline to submit a nomination form is March 20, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. Each nominee must have volunteered between January 1 and December 31 of 2023.
Categories
Seniors
This category applies to seniors who volunteer in the region.
- They must have made an outstanding contribution that benefits the residents of Dieppe, and
- be 50 years of age or older by December 31 of the previous year.
Sports and recreation
This category applies to individuals who have made an invaluable contribution to their community’s development and the well-being of other residents of the municipality.
- They must have volunteered their time and services to help organize sports or recreational activities or to help an organization carry out operational or other types of activities.
Francophonie and culture
This category applies to individuals who have made a significant contribution to promoting la Francophonie and making the City of Dieppe a culturally vibrant municipality.
- They must stand out for their generosity, involvement and dedication to artistic and cultural endeavours in the community, and
- have actively participated in promoting la Francophonie in Dieppe.
Environment
This category applies to individuals who have had a positive impact on the environment through efforts to promote best practices or a better understanding of environmental issues.
- They must have implemented short- or long-term environmental practices that promote and preserve the diversity of nature and the well-being of all life forms.
Community Involvement
This category applies to individuals who have made outstanding efforts to promote best practices or a better understanding of issues in the community.
- They must have given of their time and shown outstanding involvement with a cause aimed at providing a service to the community.
Involvement by a newcomer
This category applies to newcomers who have made an outstanding contribution that benefits Dieppe residents.
Youth involvement
This category applies to young people who have shown significant involvement in a cause aimed at providing a service to their community or improving the well-being of residents.
- They must be 19 years of age or older by December 31 of the previous year.
