Passing of former mayor William “Bill” Malenfant

DIEPPE, NB — It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of William “Bill” Malenfant, former councillor and mayor of Dieppe, and former provincial MLA.
Mr. Malenfant had a long career in the municipal sector. He first served as town councillor from 1969 to 1971, before being elected mayor for the first time in 1971.
He was re-elected for seven more terms as mayor in 1973-1974, 1974-1977, 1983-1986, 1986-1989, 1989-1992, 1992-1995 and finally 1995-1998.

Outdoor concerts at Place 1604

DIEPPE, (NB) — This year, the City of Dieppe will add four free outdoor concerts at Place 1604 as part of its Fun on Ice activities that started in 2014.
These concerts will take place every Friday from January 6 to March 31, from 6:30-8 p.m.
“Attendance was so good last year that we decided to add shows, says Denis LeBlanc, Community Officer, City of Dieppe. The public will be able to skate out on the new refrigerated ice surface to the sound of their favorite music artists!”

Collège and Champlain Streets intersection - traffic lights

DIEPPE, (NB) — The City of Dieppe wishes to advise motorists that work will take place to activate the new traffic lights at the intersection of Collège and Champlain Streets starting on Tuesday, December 13 until Thursday, December 15, weather permitting. Some temporary lane reductions are to be expected during this work.
The lights are expected to be permanently activated on Friday, December 16.
It should be noted that businesses will remain accessible during this period.

DIEPPE, (NB) — The City of Dieppe wishes to advise motorists that work will take place to install the new traffic lights at the intersection of Collège and Champlain Streets on Monday, December 5, weather permitting. The intersection will be reduced to one lane of traffic during this work and flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic.

Christmas tree decorating contest

DIEPPE, NB — The City of Dieppe, in partnership with PRO Kids and Pura Vida Yoga, recently launched a Christmas tree decorating contest with schools in our area.
The municipality supplied a Christmas tree decorated with lights only to each participating school, i.e. École Anna-Malenfant, Lou McNarin School, École Ste-Thérèse, École Amirault, and École Carrefour de l’Acadie.
