Why Move To Dieppe?
In less than 30 years, the population of the City of Dieppe has more than quadrupled. From an amalgamation of several small villages founded by Acadians, the town has become an official city and hasn’t stopped growing since. There are currently more than 18,000 residents in Dieppe, a city which is far from being a dormitory suburb. Indeed, over the years, many businesses have chosen to locate here, making the community a place to both work and live.
Dieppe is an attractive city located in the heart of Atlantic Canada. It is a transportation and service centre, and a great place to live.
Moving to Dieppe means choosing a flourishing community open to the rest of Canada and the world. The presence of an airport within city limits makes both professional and personal travel much easier. Thanks to direct flights leaving from its international airport, Dieppe is located only sixty minutes from the City of Quebec, ninety minutes from Montreal, four hours from Cuba (direct flight during the winter) from the International Airport.
Living in Dieppe means working, for instance, in one of its Industrial Park businesses, in one of the many stores or services found at Champlain Place, Atlantic Canada’s largest shopping mall, and soon in the aerospace industry. It also means being close to cultural and recreational facilities – community recreation being one of the municipality’s first priorities – arenas, baseball fields, soccer fields, etc. In short, it means enjoying family life and having everything close at hand.
Committed to environmental stewardship, the City of Dieppe continues to grow while maintaining a balance between the construction of commercial and industrial buildings and the preservation of green spaces. To date, the community boasts some thirty parks and green spaces: one city park, fifteen district parks, seven neighbourhood parks, five green islands and a linear park with 20 kilometres of trails.
The affordable cost of land and the resulting low cost of housing ($120,000 on average), along with reasonable tax rates, make it easy to become a home owner in Dieppe.
The City of Dieppe also has private daycares, several schools from kindergarten to grade 12, a piloting school (Moncton Flight College), and a French community college. Its neighbouring city, Moncton, is home to an English community college and the Université de Moncton, the largest francophone university east of Quebec.
In the area of healthcare, Dieppe residents have access to several medical and dental clinics within city limits, and to the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital (including an oncology centre) and the Moncton Hospital in the neighbouring city of Moncton.
Dieppe is an attractive bilingual community where French (80%) and English-speaking (20%) residents live together in harmony. And last but not least, Dieppe is located but a 15-minute drive from the beautiful sandy beaches of Shediac.
