City Of Dieppe Firefighters’ Badge
The Dieppe firefighters’ badge is invaluable because it was designed, from start to finish, by one of Dieppe's own firemen, Daniel (Chuck) Robichaud.
There are in fact three badges: one for officers, one for volunteer firefighters, and one for career firefighters.
All three badges have a navy blue background and the same embroidery. The difference is in the border: the officers’ is gold whereas the career firefighters and volunteers are silver.
The words “POMPIER DE CARRIÈRE” and “CAREER FIREFIGHTER” are embroidered respectively at the top and bottom of the badge. The latter represents Dieppe firefighters’ main mission which is to conserve and protect. On the left, there is the Canadian flag, and on the right the New Brunswick flag.
At the point where the Canadian (left) and New Brunswick (right) flags cross, there are the Medic Alert symbol, two red axes representing fire, and the jaws of life. The word PROTECTION, which represents another aspect of the firefighters’ mission, is embroidered underneath the axes.
