Council Committees
Three (3) types of committees are being established by City Council, with the objective of gathering suggestions and/or recommendations on various issues that impact on the well-being of the community and its population. City Council appoints committee members and provides guidance and coaching to volunteers. It encourages residents to express their interest in being a member of a Committee of Council and has established an application process in that regard. City Council will do its utmost to ensure that the composition of the committees truly reflects the diversity and demographic characteristics of Dieppe.
Why become a member of a Committee of Council?
By becoming a member of a Committee of Council in the City of Dieppe, you will be in a position of significantly contributing to your community. Your specialized knowledge, enthusiasm and community pride are assets that can be used to improve our municipality.
As a volunteer member in a Committee of Council, you will be part of a prestigious group chosen by City Council to examine various issues and provide suggestions on the future of our municipality. Being prepared and attending meetings are very important factors of success.
You will participate and contribute to several discussions that will help City Council achieve its objectives. In some cases, City Council will take decisions that include a Committee of Council’s suggestions and recommendations while, in other cases, a committee’s feedback will only be one of the elements that Council has to consider during the decision-making process.
What you should know before submitting your application
- Council Committee members are volunteers and are not paid for their participation;
- Being a member of a committee requires an investment in time, the length of which may vary from committee to committee;
- Committee members follow a Code of Conduct during Council Committee meetings.
